Porches is small, intimate, picturesque and silent streets where white predominates. During the summer it is transfigured, vibrates, and attracts crowds that sigh for its idyllic beaches - they are among the best in the Algarve. The region is also known for its wines and ceramics. The Portuguese settlement began in the 16th century, but was already occupied in the Neolithic and classical period. Until 1970 fishing and winemaking was the livelihood of the community.
