CHIADO

Located between Bairro Alto and Baixa, Chiado is a charismatic neighbourhood with a unique and vibrant look & feel. Considered the heart of old Lisbon, this is where we can still find several monuments and historical icons, such as the Fernando Pessoa statue sitting outside the famous A Brasileira café. Traditional shops live side-by-side with exciting new businesses, exquisite hotels, and sophisticated venues. Chiado neighbourhood architectural style dates mainly to the 18th -century, and most of it was rebuilt in the 90s by the renowned architect Álvaro Siza Vieira after a devastating fire in the late 80s. Culturally and artistically speaking, Chiado is filled with age-old symbols of theatre, dance, classical music, and more. Every corner holds a little bit of Lisbon history.
